About Our Running Club
The Avondale Running Club was founded in 1982 when original four members began regularly running together on weekends to stay fit.
The club is one of the oldest running clubs in the country organized by African Americans. The 30 plus members, runners and walkers, not only work on physical fitness, but establish lasting friendships, support each other, and often travel together to race events. The club originated in Avondale on Reading Road, hence its name. Members meet weekly and run or walk 3 to 8 miles or more three times a week.
In addition to running and walking, together the members place high emphasis on giving back to their community by donating time and treasure to charitable causes and organizations.
Our activities include:
Staffing a fluids station for the Flying Pig Marathon each year since the inaugural run.
Staffing an aid station for Ride Cincinnati.
Staffing the fluid station for the Who Dey 5K race.
Energetic support for the Avondale Youth Council and Avondale Chiefs T-ball team.
If you walk or run for fun or you are in training for a competition you'll find willing ARC clubs members to participate with you. If you wish to join ARC please print, complete and submit the membershipApplication. Annual Membership fee is $15.00
