Monthly Meetings -
August monthly meeting: Panera Bread community room located at 405 E. Kemper Road across
from Tri-County Mall in Springdale.
September monthly and all following meetings for 2008: Avondale Community Pride Center,
3520 Burnet Ave.
The Club Picnic Outing
The Club's annual picnic was held June 21, 2008 in Sharon Woods Park. Club members as is our
custom, had run and walk before enjoying great picnic fare. Thanks to all who attended and
contributed to the good time.
NBMA target Marathons
The 2008 NBMA event was the Lost Dutchman Marathon in Apache, Junction, Arizona. A number
of ARC club members made the trip to Apache Junction to join other NBMA faithful and participated
in either the 10K run, 1/2 Marathon or Marathon. See our ARC photos . We had great experience
and look forward to the 2009 event, the Cowtown Marathon February 28, in Dallas/Ft. Worth,
Texas.
The Pig Fluid Station
ARC received 1st place recognition edition of our high energy, enthusiastic fluid station. Kudos to
DJ Bob Humphries and all the volunteers that made it happen! Check out the prior recognitions
for 2006 and 2007 and Unsolicited testimonial of our fun filled efforts.
Community Support
The CLUB has added the YMCA Black Achievers to our growing list of charitable gifts of time, talent
and treasure. The Club presented the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati with a check for $1,000 to
provide a scholarship for a 2008 Youth Achiever. The scholarship was awarded to Todd Hogan.
Todd is a graduate of Roger Bacon High School. See Photos of the evening.
Walkers
The CLUB walkers will revise their walk schedule beginning in September for the remainder of the
2008 calendar year. We will gather every second and fourth Saturday morning at 7:30 AM at
beautiful Glenwood Gardens. The layout of the park allows for walking at a different paces without
loosing contact with the group. On the first and third Saturday we will walk a selected route in the
Avondale neighborhood. Come join them for a brisk 45 to 50 minute walk. The first Saturday of
the month we meet and walk before the Monthly Meeting. We are always finished in time for start of
meeting at 9:00.
Runners
The CLUB runners gather every Sunday morning at a different location. See the club calendar for
locations. Come join them for a 1 to 2 hour run. Runs begin at 7:00 AM during the summer months
of June, July, August and September.
Wineberg to '08 Olympics
Mary Wineberg, a friend from her Y days at Melrose Branch, is on track for a spot on the 2008 US
Olympic team. Check out her website at www.marywineberg.com.
